Therefore, visitors beware. :) You may not get out of the house as quickly as you thought. :) However, rest assured, we WILL feed you dinner. :)

Dark Angel Puppies are registed with the American Kennel Club (AKC) on a limited registration. What this means is that a litter cannot be registered from your puppy. However, you are open to dozens of dog sports, trails and events. If you seek a full registration for some reason, just give us a call.

The American breed standard for the Doberman calls for tail docking and dewclaw removal. Dobermans are born with long tails and they are routinely docked down to the last two-three vertebrae. Declaws are an extra toe of sorts with a hooked claw that sits on the inside of the front leg. Declaws have a tendency to curl and grow inwards and can grow into and under the skin. Dewclaws also HURT the recipient of a dog that jumps on them and has that claw rake down the skin of their legs. There have been many a deep declaw lacerations and yes they are painful.

Your puppy will require a series of inoculations before it is considered safe for your puppy  to transport to a new location. A responsible breeder will make certain that all inoculations are in place. Worming is also a requirement and needs to be done in regular intervals until your puppy ships to you. If worming is not part of an early puppy hood  protocol great damage can be caused by parasites and in some cases even prove life threatening.

We treat puppies with a flea and tick repellent/killer called Advantage prior to shipping. Because their airline crates will be placed next to other animals in cargo, we wish to be certain that they do not pick up these external parasites from other animals.

Your Dark Angel Puppy Basket will ship to you one week before your puppy ships. In your Dark Angel Puppy Basket you will find appropriate chew toys, a collar and leash, puppy treats, a sample of the dog food we feed, a brush, and a DVD with pictures chronicling your puppies first eight weeks. You will have pictures of your newly born puppy, pictures of first steps and pictures of the first meal. Scattered with other pictures of course. We find that many puppy owners appreciate this and are thrilled to have these pictorials for family photo albums.

Your basket will contain our Dark Angel Doberman puppy-training manual. If you do as this manual describes, your puppy will have the perfect foundation for furthur obedience work which will help catapult you both to higher levels of training, relations and respect on both sides.

ABOUT EAR CROPPING

We do not crop ears for our puppy people unless it is a unique circumstance. If you have a unique circumstance do let us know and we will help. Here are the reasons why we do not crop our puppies. After ear cropping, the ears require two weeks of aftercare before posting and taping. This is a huge job across a litter of puppies. After cropping, the puppy MUST be separated from all other dogs in order to avoid damage to the ears. This would require quite the facility.

Most important is the social development of your puppy. There is a reason that puppies routinely go home at eight weeks of age. It has very much to do with psychological and social development. Eight weeks is the tender age where it is best for a puppy to be introduced to and bond with it's new owners. We do not want YOUR puppy bonding with US. We want your puppy bonding with YOU.

There are some owners who prefer natural ears on their Dark Angel Doberman puppy. Because the heads on our dogs are exceedingly broad, they certainly do look fantastic uncropped. Also, this is just fine as you can still compete in all sanctioned show and obedience events in the United States. If you choose cropped ears, make arrangements with your veterinarian after you get your puppy shipping date. You and your puppy will be all the better for it.

Finally, you will receive notorized copies of health certificates for both the sire and the dam. While many of us do not even think to keep medical records on ourselves, medical documentation is import for both us and our pets. This documentation will help alleviate any doubts regarding the medical condition of your new puppies parents. We  would be happy to fax you this information prior to your purchase of a Dark Angel Doberman.
